Pickup from your Delhi hotel or airport. We begin in the oldest layers of the city — the Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, followed by a rickshaw ride through the medieval arteries of Chandni Chowk and into Khari Baoli, Asia's oldest spice market. After lunch, we cross into the imperial Delhi of the Mughals: Humayun's Tomb — the architectural blueprint for the Taj Mahal — where the double dome and the charbagh garden were perfected for the first time. We close the day at the Qutub Minar, the 12th-century tower whose ancient iron pillar has resisted rust for over 1,600 years. Delhi is eight cities layered on top of each other. Today you meet three of them.

Morning private drive from Delhi to Agra on the Yamuna Expressway — one of India's finest highways, cutting the journey to under three hours in comfort. Arrival in Agra and check-in at your hotel. Afternoon: Agra Fort, the walled city that served as the seat of Mughal power for a century before the capital moved to Delhi. We walk through the Amar Singh Gate, into the Diwan-i-Am, and into the Musamman Burj — the octagonal tower where Shah Jahan spent his final eight years imprisoned by his son, with only one view: the distant white dome of the Taj Mahal across the river. As the afternoon light softens, we cross to Mehtab Bagh — the Moonlight Garden on the opposite bank of the Yamuna — for the finest sunset view of the Taj Mahal that exists anywhere in Agra.

Pre-dawn departure for the Taj Mahal. We enter through the East Gate at first light — before the crowds, before the heat — and position ourselves at the long reflecting pool as the marble shifts from silver to rose gold to warm amber over twenty minutes. Shah Jahan designed this transformation four centuries ago, and it has unfolded every single morning since. After the Taj, breakfast, and checkout, we begin the drive west toward Jaipur. Midway, we stop at Fatehpur Sikri — the abandoned Mughal capital, built by Emperor Akbar in 1571 and deserted just fourteen years later, its red sandstone palaces, courtyards, and mosques perfectly preserved in the silence of the Rajasthan plains. Arrival in Jaipur by evening.

A full day inside the capital of Rajputana — the warrior kingdom that resisted Mughal conquest longer than any other. We begin at Amber Fort, rising dramatically from a hillside above Maota Lake, its mirrored palace chambers, elephant gate, and labyrinthine courtyards among the finest examples of Rajput military architecture on earth. Then the City Palace — still a living royal residence, part of it occupied by the Jaipur royal family to this day — and adjacent to it, Jantar Mantar, the 1734 UNESCO-listed astronomical observatory whose instruments measure solar time to within two seconds without a single digital component. We close at the Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds, and walk through Johari Bazaar — the gem market where craftsmen have cut stones by hand under the same arches for three centuries. Jaipur closes the circuit with a different civilisation entirely — and the contrast makes the whole journey make sense.

A relaxed morning in Jaipur — time to revisit a bazaar, sit over a final chai, or simply absorb the city at your own pace before departure. An additional day allows for a slower pace in any of the three cities, an optional visit to the Baby Taj (Itmad-ud-Daulah) in Agra, the Elephant Village in Jaipur, or a deeper exploration of Delhi's colonial Lutyens quarter.
